DoseMind ("the App") is a medication reminder application designed to help users manage their medication schedules efficiently. This Privacy Policy explains how DoseMind collects, stores, and handles user data in compliance with applicable laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

1. Information We Collect

DoseMind collects and stores the following types of information locally on the user's device:

Medication Data:

  • Medication name
  • Dosage
  • Intake times
  • Inventory levels
  • Specific instructions related to medication

User Preferences:

  • Theme settings (dark/light mode)
  • Time zone preferences
  • Notification preferences

App Analytics (Locally Logged Only):

  • App usage events
  • Settings changes
  • Medication-related actions (e.g., reminders marked as taken or skipped)

Important Note: DoseMind does not require user account registration, and all data remains stored locally on the user's device. No personal information is transmitted to external servers or third parties.

2. Legitimate Reasons for Processing Your Personal Information

Under the GDPR, DoseMind processes data based on the following legal grounds:

  • User Consent: Users voluntarily input their medication data.
  • Legitimate Interest: Data processing is necessary for the core functionality of the app (i.e., medication reminders).

DoseMind ensures that user data is only processed in ways that align with its intended purpose and in compliance with data protection regulations.

3. Collection and Use of Information

DoseMind only collects data necessary for the app's core functionality and ensures that:

  • Data is never shared with third parties.
  • Data is used exclusively for providing medication reminders and user preferences.
  • Local analytics are used solely for app functionality improvements.
  • There is no integration with external services, such as advertising networks or third-party analytics providers.
  • Users maintain full control over their data and can modify or delete it at any time.

4. Data Storage and Security

  • Local Storage: All user data is stored locally using SwiftData.
  • Backups: Automatic backups are created and stored in the app's documents directory, with the last five backups retained.
  • iCloud Support: If enabled, backups may also be stored in iCloud for device synchronization.
  • Data Protection: The App follows industry best practices for local data encryption and security, ensuring that unauthorized access is prevented.
  • Device Security: Users are encouraged to secure their device using strong authentication methods such as Face ID, Touch ID, or passcodes to protect their information.

5. How Long We Keep Your Personal Information

DoseMind retains user data only for as long as necessary for the app's core functionality.

  • Locally stored data: Remains on the user's device until manually deleted by the user or when the app is uninstalled.
  • Backups: The last five backups are retained and automatically replaced when new ones are created.
  • iCloud backups: If enabled, follow Apple's retention policies and can be manually deleted by the user.

Once the app is uninstalled, all locally stored user data is permanently removed. We do not retain any data beyond the user's control.

6. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services

DoseMind does not share user data with any external servers, third parties, or analytics platforms.

  • No integration with HealthKit or external APIs.
  • No use of advertising or third-party tracking.
  • No external storage beyond local device and optional iCloud backups.

7. User Rights & Data Management

Users have full control over their data within the app. Specifically, users can:

  • Manage medication records: Add, modify, or delete their medication records at any time.
  • Adjust preferences: Modify theme settings, time zone, and notification preferences.
  • Delete data: Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored information. DoseMind does not retain any user data after app deletion.
  • Request Assistance: Users can contact support if they need help managing their data or have privacy-related concerns.

Under GDPR and CCPA regulations, users have the right to:

  • Request access to their data.
  • Request deletion of their data.
  • Opt out of any future data collection, if applicable.

8. Children's Privacy

DoseMind is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that their child has provided information, they should contact us to request data removal.

9. Limitation of Liability

DoseMind is provided "as is" and is intended as a tool to assist users in managing their medication schedules. We do not guarantee that the app is free from errors, nor do we take responsibility for any missed medication, incorrect dosage, or health consequences resulting from the use or misuse of the app. Users should always consult with a healthcare professional regarding their medication regimen. By using DoseMind, users acknowledge that they assume full responsibility for their medication management and release DoseMind, its developers, and affiliates from any liability arising from its use.
